Issue Two - December 17, 2015 | | | | "It is not enough if we just pray and keep quiet. By mere thinking or speaking, not much can be achieved. When thought and deeds match, things will happen. By merely thinking about food or by talking about it, the stomach will not get filled. From morning to evening, if you chant the words 'rice' or 'chapathi', your hunger will not be satiated. Your hunger will only increase, not decrease. Only when you make the effort to cook the chapathi, and then eat it, will you be satisfied. Similarly, just by praying that everyone should be happy & healthy, not everyone will be happy and healthy. Good thought should be accompanied by good words, which should be converted to good actions. Therefore, sow a good thought, and it will reap a good action." - Baba | | | | With the Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, we are delighted to present our second issue of Ananda Vahini. The entourage arrived from Bangalore by the evening flight at 10:30pm on Thursday night (December 10, 2015), and were driven from the Bandaranaike International Airport in Columbo to the residence of Sri Ravi and Smt Penny Jayewardene at Piliyandala. Swami had promised his father, former President of Sri Lanka, late Sri J R Jayewardene, not once, but thrice, that He would visit and stay with the family in Sri Lanka. With God, promises are meant to be fulfilled! Friday, December 11, 2015 - Bhagawan began the morning early, with a few private interviews to the Jayewardene family, and other dignitaries who had lovingly gathered to welcome Lord Rama back to His Lanka! He blessed the dignitaries, but did not forget to shower His immense love on the house help of the Jayewardenes. Rani ma has been with the household for the last few years, assisting in every aspect of the house, from cooking to cleaning. It was her birthday and she cut a cake in the Divine presence. The omniscient Lord revealed about her innermost desires and her war-torn childhood! She has been in a state of bliss, since then! The nine-hour journey from Piliyandala to Batticaloa, with a couple of pit stops in between, was going to be tiresome. But, nothing deterred the spirit of the entourage who left the Jayewardene residence at 9:30am, as everyone were eagerly looking forward to the Lord's visit, to a war battered area of Sri Lanka. Every individual was certain that as soon as the Lord would set foot on this part of the country, especially on the land where the ashram construction will commence soon, all will be well! It was a 20 minutes drive from the place where Bhagawan was residing. As part of the 17 ashrams that Swami will establish around the world, Sri Sathya Sai Karuna Nilayam in Batticaloa, lovingly named by Bhagawan, will commence by His Divine will in a year's time. The ashram will serve as a beacon of spiritual light, imparting free education and free healthcare to everyone. When the Lord visited Columbo a few months ago, in July 2015, a Sri Lankan devotee, now residing with his family in Singapore, Sri Sutharshanom, loving placed 200 acres of land at His Divine Lotus Feet! But the Lord accepted only 50 acres, the area needed for the construction of the ashram. Swami declared a hospital and school will be established, offering all services completely free-of-charge. Energies were high, yet a feeling of remorse filled the air. It was unspoken, yet very evident in the eyes of all gathered, for it was the last day with beloved Bhagawan! The morning began with the Lord granting interviews to a few families at the Jayewardene residence. It was overwhelming to see each person blissfully walking out of the interview room, proof of the healing Grace flowing effortlessly into the parched souls! Form or formless, nothing has changed! Bhagawan along with His retinue left the Jayewardene residence a little after 10am to Taj Samudra, venue for the public satsang in Columbo. It was an hour's drive, and Bhagawan was welcomed by devotees who had gathered with much devotion and eagerness to welcome their Sai Rama, from many parts of Sri Lanka, and other countries. The same saga of love between the Lord and his children. The satsang began with Sri Mithun Jayaraman welcoming the gathering and recounting the last two days at Batticaloa, before inviting Smt Penny Jayewardene to share her thoughts and deliver her opening remarks. She spoke passionately about rebuilding the war torn land of Batticaloa, into a place of peace and prosperity through the Sri Sathya Sai Karuna Nilayam Foundation, which is being established by Swami, and urged all gathered to be a part of this noble mission, in whatever little way they can. On His Divine visit to the beautiful nation of Fiji in September 2015, out of His infinite love and compassion for the poor and needy, He announced the beginning of a new healthcare project - 'Health on Wheels' - a mobile medical vehicle to fulfill the health needs of the people of Fiji. "The patients do not need to go to the Hospital. The Hospital must go to the patient", He said. To fulfill the Lord's desire, devotees from all walks of life came together to immediately launch the project, on the occasion of His 90th Birthday! The mobile medical vehicle is currently in order, and will be launched in 2016. However, this did not hold back the community service project and the first ever 'Health on Wheels', a free medical camp was conducted successfully at the Ahmaddiya Muslim College, located in Sangam Road, Narere - Nasinu, which serves one of the highest populated regions between the Suva and Nausori corridor. Volunteer doctors, which included General Practitioners from both Government and Private establishments, nurses, eye specialists, dentists, pharmacists and medical students, gathered at the venue. A 'Values and Medical Awareness Workshop' was also conducted, along with the regular blood pressure, BMI and diabetes screening (blood glucose testing). Women's health check, a cervical cancer screening and a blood donation camp, was also set-up. By Bhagawan's abundant grace, close to 240 patients were registered and medical services were provided to them. More than 100 prescriptions were written and dispensed by the pharmacy. | | | | | Copyright © *2015* *Sri Sathya Sai Premamrutha Prakashana*, All rights reserved.
