Tuesday, October 13 – Evening: The specially erected hall that houses the Yagna Shala was transformed into a venue for the evening's cultural events. Bhagawan arrived at the hall that was ringing with beautiful bhajans by the students. After Veda chanting, Sri Badri Narayanan, an alumnus of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Prasanthi Nilayam campus treated everyone present to a talk on the Bhagawatam. After an illustrious career in the IT world for close to 15 years, he followed his heart and started traveling to various countries giving talks and lectures on the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Bhagawatham and other spiritual works, since the year 2011. Sri Badri renowned for his practical interpretation of the Bhagawatam, enthralled the audience with his impressive rendering.
A musical program by the Boys Music Group, comprising of both current students and alumini, was next in the agenda. Four songs in praise of Lord Shiva and Devi were offered at the Divine Lotus Feet.
The high notes that some of the songs rendered filled the hall with a special vibration.
The speaker for the evening was Sri Narasimha Murty who spoke about the efficacy of the Athi Rudra Maha Yagna. In his inspirational and enlightening speech, he gave a vivid description of the unfolding and planning of this most sacred Yagna, which is being performed for promoting Loka Kshema and Loka Kalyana.
This was followed by the much awaited divine discourse of Bhagawan.
Summary of Divine Discourse
The vehicle of creation – runs on the two wheels of birth and death. If one of the wheels falls away, creation itself would stop. For every action, there is a reaction. If we want to cross over this law of karma – action and reaction – you have to transform all your actions as yagna. Because action and reaction come one after the other, it is very difficult for us to cross over this law.
Whatever actions you are involved in, whatever yagna you perform, whatever you eat, offer everything to Me – that is karma yoga. When we do all our actions with love for God, the reactions will not haunt us. Whatever we want to offer to God, we want that activity to be perfect and pure. True yagna and yaaga is when whatever we think, say and do, we do it with love for God, offer it to God and sacrifice the desire for results of our actions. Address all your actions to – Krishnarapanamastu – I offer it to Krishna- then it goes to Krishna.
What we think exists, really does not exist. What we think does not exist, really exists. What exists is God everywhere, at all times. Energy becomes matter and matter becomes energy. It is written in the Taittiriya Upanishad that from the space came wind; from wind came fire; from fire came water; from water came earth. All these five elements have very subtle relationships among themselves. In every human personality there are these five elements. Therefore whatever happens in the akasha will affect the other four elements also. Akasha – space – is full of vibrations. When you chant a mantra, the whole space or akasha will be filled with sacred vibrations. These vibrations pervade everyone present there and make the sacred feelings emanate in their personalities.
Vibrations do not have any weight they can reach anywhere. We chant the mantras here and the vibrations will pervade the whole universe. Sanathana dharma is atma dharma because atma is the eternal, which will never be born and never dies. God comes down again and again in order to establish dharma. That is why I aspire that we will have these yagnas and yaagas and also teach you these basics of Sanathana dharma.
Ramayana, Bhagavatha or 'Bhagavavathamu' in Telugu are very sacred scriptures – our children should learn all of them. If you study Bhaagavatha, you will become good. The first letter, 'Bha' stands for Bhakthi, devotion; 'Ga' is jnana – wisdom; 'Va' means vairagyam – detachment; 'Tha' means the thattva or the fundamental principle; 'Mu' means mukthi or liberation. When you study Bhaagavatham you get all these five.
When you give up your selfishness and self-interest and become selfless, then Kali yuga will change into Sathya yuga. Sacrifice is not giving up wife and children and going away to the forest; real sacrifice is giving up your selfishness. When Kali yuga ends and Sathya yuga comes, everybody will be able to develop spiritual feelings, practise spirituality easily and derive divine bliss. We have organised this program in order to end Kali yuga and bring in Sathya yuga. Even if Sathya yuga comes, if you are not able to give up your selfishness and narrow-mindedness, you will continue to live in Kali yuga.
