Om Sairam dearest Sai Family
With divine energy surrounded all over, the global akhanda bhajan goes underway with a packed Sai Kulwanth hall in the abode of highest peace, Prasanthi Nilayam.. This is an annual feature which happens on the second saturday of November. India as many know has 6 working days, excepting second saturday which is a holiday.
Quite a lot of devotees take time to travel to Parthi and participate in Global Akhanda Bhajan.
This is the major festivity to kick start November which is always packed with series of programmes coinciding with the birthday celebrations. This year's birthday celebrations will be extra special because the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust will be dedicating the second phase of water project to the society which will be covering close to 120 villagers in the district of Anantapur and these are the villages which were left out in the first phase of water project. If media reports have to be believed the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr.Chandra Babu Naidu will be coming for this programme (again it is a media report and not an official version).
Here is the official programme of the 89th Birthday celebrations:
After the regular veda chantings, Prof.Anil Kumar gave a beautiful talk in Sai Kulwanth hall on the importance of " Naamasmarana". He had a special praise for the good work done by devotees in South Africa, latine America . He also appreciated the bhajan translations done by Japan devotees and also in Thailand which is sung in the same tune as in Prasanthi Bhajan. He even sang "Hare Rama Hare Rama" bhajan in Japanese language. Giving example of the divine name sung all over the world, Prof.Anil Kumar also mentioned the number of Sai centers even in the middle east.
He spoke on Spiritual change, association change and individual change which is possible only by naamasmarana.he urged the devotees not to get carried away by cheap popularity and tactics. When Some one asked Swami why not stay in a metropolitan city instead of a tiny hamlet like Puttaparthi, He said the seed sprouted here and will become gigantic tree and I will fulfill the Avataric mission from here it self.
When Col.Joga Rao suggested Swami to charge atleast a nominal fee to the "affordable class" in His hospitals, Swami immediately replied there is nothing like " RICH" heart disease or "POOR" heart disease. In My hospital every one will be treated "FREE" of charge no matter what their financial status was.
When Mr.Joga Rao asked Swami as how He will run this hospital with every thing given free.. free.. Swami replied, in Rama Avatar, monkeys helped, squirrel helped and even demon kings came and helped. Do you think in Sathya Sai Avatar, "Humans'" will not help? ( This to me was a very touching words from Swami. This is how much confidence and trust He has on us, humans and it is high time we realise how well are we contributing to His mission).
Combining both Telugu and English, the erudite speaker touched every one's hearts with his sheer eloquence and profundity in his message which was direct and easily understandable..
LONG TIME DEVOTEE AVINASH CHHABILDAS RAJANI IS NO MORE:
An ardent devotee of Bhagawan and a great philanthropist who did Swami's work very " silently" full of devotion merged at His lotus feet on Friday night in Mumbai after a massive heart attack. He was 68 years old. Mr.Rajani was living in Prasanthi for the past 20 years or so and just 3 hours before his passing he spoke with Prof.Anil Kumar and exchanged greetings and wished Prof.Anil Kumar good health to continue spreading Swami's glory. Mr.Rajani is Mr.Ajith Poppat (Puppet)'s own brother-in-law. Please pray for this departed soul to rest in peace and may Swami give all the strength to his family to cope with this sudden loss.
SAD ENDING TO THE MISSING AUSTRALIAN DEVOTEE:
File picture of Mrs.Tony with her daughther Traci Harding
(Please note that this incident didn't happen inside the ashram but out in the village)
On a similar but on a much sadder note, after more than 2 months of investigation 75 year old Mrs. Tony who went missing from Puttaparthi since August 2014 ended being murdered. It was indeed very shocking to know that this happened in Puttaparthi. Ever since her missing, the case was taken up seriously on the consulate level and yesterday the police came to the conclusion that the watch man of the building SAI GOWRI where Mrs.Tony was living had a role in this whole episode, By evening, police arrested Bhagawant, the security guard at the apartments. He confessed to have committed the crime for money and valuables. Two others, who helped him in the crime, were also arrested. They told police that after killing the woman, they buried her near a lake on the outskirts of the town. The police later exhumed the body in the presence of officials and she was later cremated in Chitravathi in the presence of few friends of her's in Puttaparthi. May Swami bless her soul to rest in peace and deepest sympathies to her family in Australia.
Here is a report on this in the Times of India

As soon as this news broke lots of TV channels started coming to Puttaparthi. Few channels were randomly picking mostly foreign nationals on the streets and asking if they would still consider Puttaparthi to be a safe place after Swami's Mahasamadhi..Probably they wanted a critical and negative view on Puttaparthi.. I followed them to some distance and every one (foreign nationals who were interviewed) said it is absolutely safe, no issues whatsoever and we have to be extra careful no matter where you are and few others spoke on destiny.
WHY SUCH A THING HAPPENED?
Undoubtedly, Puttaparthi is the holiest of the places but the people may not be so. Most of the people especially the security men/ watchmen are recruited by the building owners and not out sourced from reputed security agencies (where there is a thorough scrutiny of their family background, behaviour etc) . Most of the watchmen are from villages, small towns and not necessarily Swami's devotees/followers. There are quite a few single men and women living in various apartments in Puttaparthi and every now and then there is chance of such incidents to happen if we are not extra careful and watchful.
If you have your parents, friends who are living alone or leading their retired lives, ask them to be extra careful and not to completely trust any one but only Swami. I know few devotees who have sent their old parents, some times single parent to Puttaparthi and such people should be more careful and have some trusted friends who would watch on them if not just one person...
KALPAVRIKSHAM - WISH FULFILLING TREE GETS A FACE LIFT:
With efforts from the local youth and the ashram authorities, the steps leading to the Kalpavriksham got a face lift unlike before which was in a very bad shape. now the devotees will have no problems climbing up to the tree.
This is the tree where Swami used to perform so many leelas when He was a child. Almost half of that tree fell apart during a heavy storm in the year 2011 and it is now well protected from storm and also from people who want its leaves, branches etc. Swami is our "Kalpavriksham"and this tree is just a reminder of this fact. It is indeed a spiritual sadhana to go all the way up and think of Swami but unfortunately people are writing pages and pages of desires and tying it to the tree which is in a way harming the tree and it is more a "physical " if not "spiritual"activity.

So next time you are there on the hill top pray intensely and whole heartedly to Swami and pour out all your desires, wants, agonies and even anger but desist from tying/hanging things on to the tree because we want our future generations to have a glimpse of this tree which had witness His divine leelas.
Swami's nephew and Sathya Sai Central Member, Sri.Rathnakar amidst a grand welcome offered prayers to Swami and even climbed up the hill inspite of having few complications with his leg from the gruesome accident in 2010.
May Swami bless us all..
