El Profesor G. Venkataraman es un eminente científico con una notable carrera científica. Graduado con Diploma de Honor en Física en la Universidad de Madrás y Doctorado en Física en la Universidad de Bombay, el Prof. G. Venkataraman ha trabajado en las más prestigiosas Instituciones Científicas de la India, recibiendo numerosos honores como la Medalla Sir C.V. Raman de la Comisión de Becas de Universidades, Medalla ‘Raman Centenary’ de la Academia de Ciencia de la India, Premio Indira Gandhi de la Academia Nacional de Ciencias de la India, Medalla Sir C.V Raman del Congreso de Ciencias de la India, Membrecía ‘Jawaharlal Nehru’ de la Fundación Nehru y ‘Padma Shri’ conferido por el Presidente de la India.
En el momento de su retiro en Octubre de 1992, habiendo pasado tres décadas en el Departamento de Energía Atómica y luego muchos años en la Organización de Investigación de Defensa y Desarrollo, su jefe era el Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Presidente de la India en ese entonces. El Dr. Kalam le pidió que continuara por algún tiempo más, pero el Prof. Venkataraman declinó diciendo que quería ir al Ashram de Sri Sathya Sai Baba y servir en la Universidad de Baba en calidad honoraria. El Dr. Kalam le dijo, “Tú eres muy afortunado, estás yendo a un lugar Sagrado”.
Luego de servir como Vice-Rector de la Universidad de Baba en Prashanti Nilayam (Instituto de Estudios Superiores Sri Sathya Sai), asumió el cargo de Director de la Radio Sai Global Harmony con Sede en Prashanti Nilayam, Ashram de Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, cargo que conserva hasta la actualidad.

With an Honours Degree in Physics from the University of Madras, and a Ph.D in Physics from the University of Bombay, Prof. G. Venkataraman worked in the most prestigious Scientific Institutions of India, receiving numerous honours like, Sir C.V.Raman Medal of the University Grants Commission, Raman Centenary Medal of the Indian Academy of Science, Indira Gandhi Award of the Indian National Science Academy, and the Sir C.V.Raman Medal of the Indian Science Congress, Jawaharlal Nehru Fellowship conferred by the Nehru Foundation, and the Padma Shri conferred by the President of India.
At the time of his retirement from service, in October 1992, having spent three decades in the Atomic Energy Department and several years in the Defence Research and Development Organisation, his boss was Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, President of India at that time. Dr. Kalam requested him to continue for some more time but he declined saying that he wanted to go to the Ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba and serve there in Baba’s University in an honorary capacity. Dr. Kalam told him, “You are very fortunate, you are going to a Sacred place”.
After serving as the Vice-Chancellor in Baba’s University (Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning) in Prashanti Nilayam, he became the Director of the Radio Sai Global Harmony in Prashanti Nilayam, Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Ashram, post which he holds up to date.
